What is classed as a low carb diet?

Generally, consuming less than 100-150g of carbohydrate each day is considered as being ‘low carb’. While less carbs are consumed, it’s important to keep a steady consumption of unprocessed, ‘raw’ foods.

What foods are low in carbs?

Low carb foods include lean meats like chicken breast, turkey and pork; fish; leafy greens such as kale, spinach and rocket; non-starchy vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus and cucumbers; nuts, seeds and nut butters; healthy oils like olive, coconut and rapeseed oil; low-sugar fruits like blueberries and strawberries; and unsweetened dairy products such as plain Greek yoghurt and whole milk.

Can you eat bread on a low carb diet?

Bread is typically high in carbohydrates, with most slices containing 15-20g of carbs, making it unsuitable for a strict low carb diet. However, low carb alternatives (e.g. almond flour or coconut flour) can be a great substitute for those looking to enjoy bread as part of a low carb meal.

Are sweet potatoes low carb?

While they are a nutritious source of fibre, vitamins and minerals, sweet potatoes are not typically considered a low carb food, as they contain around 20-25g of carbohydrates per 100g. You won’t typically find sweet potatoes as part of our low carb meals.
